THEME: STEPS & LADDERS

In an aluminium ladder manufacturing company, foldable step ladders

are built as shown below. The length XY and XZ are each equal to

105 cm. The vertical angle is 36°.

Question: 1.1 Write down the ratio of ∠YXZ to ∠XZY in the form x : 1.​

Solution :-

In ∆XYZ we have,

→ XY = XZ = 105 cm .

So,

→ ∠XYZ = ∠XZY { Angle opposite to equal sides are equal in measure . }

and,

→ ∠YXZ = 36° { given. }

then,

→ ∠XYZ + ∠XZY + ∠YXZ = 180° { By angle sum property. }

→ ∠XZY + ∠XZY + 36° = 180°

→ 2•∠XZY = 180° - 36°

→ 2•∠XZY = 144°

→ ∠XZY = 72°

therefore,

→ ∠YXZ : ∠XZY = x : 1

→ 36° : 72° = x : 1

→ 1 : 2 = x : 1

(1/2) : 1 = x : 1 (Ans.)
