● ANSWER ●

Then a monstrous terror seized him and his heart stood still. He could hear nothing. But it only lasted a minute. The next moment he felt his wings spread outwards. The wind rushed against his breast feathers, then under his stomach, and against his wings. – He could feel the tips of his wings cutting through the air. He was not falling headlong now. He was soaring gradually downwards arid outwards, He was no longer afraid.

Answer:

As he leaned forward, the seagull dropped off, and as it fell, a tremendous dread seized him and his heart stopped. He had no hearing. But it was just a minute long. The next instant, he felt his wings opening up. He could actually feel the air being slashed by the tips of his own wings. He was no longer falling rapidly. He was no longer terrified as he progressively rose upward and forth. He made a single wing flap at that point and rose into the air. Then, fully forgetting that he had not always been able to fly, he praised himself for his ability to dive, soar, and curve while shrieking.

Explanation :

  • A baby seagull who is scared to fly is the subject of "Liam O' Flaherty's" short story "His First Flight."
  • All of his smaller siblings soared freely despite having much shorter wings than he had, but he lacked the bravery to believe in his own wings.
  • When the young seagull noticed his parents honing the flying skills of his younger siblings, he grew upset.
  • For not even attempting, his parents reprimand and make fun of him. He is even referred to as a "coward."
  • They advise him strongly to at least try, and if he doesn't, they'll leave him hungry and alone.
  • He is abandoned the next day, and when he becomes hungry, he tries to get his family members' attention.
  • Only his mother, who is trying to eat a fish that is rotting, recognises his son.
  • The starving juvenile seagull calls out, hoping his mother will come to his aid.
  • He becomes pleased when he sees his mother approaching him carrying the fish.
  • But when he saw that his mother had halted in the middle, he became enraged and hungry and dove at the fish, temporarily forgetting that he was terrified to fly.
  • He finally took his maiden flight. His entire family surrounds him while cheering and dancing to celebrate his victory.
  • He also makes an attempt to float in the sea, which he used to fear.
  • He overcame his dread as a result and understood everything was in his thoughts.
