THEOREM OF PARALLEL AXIS:-

Acc. to this theorem the moment of inertia of a body about an axis is equal to its moment of inertia.

I cm about the parallel axis through its centre of mass + the product of the mass of the body and square of perpendicular distance between 2 axis.

THEOREM OF PERPENDICULAR AXIS:-

• Acc. to this theorem the moment of inertia of uniform plane lamina about an axis perpendicular to its plane is equal to the sum of its moment of inertia about any two mutually perpendicular axis in its plane intersecting on the 1st axis.

Answer:

What is Parallel Axis Theorem? The moment of inertia of a body about an axis parallel to the body passing through its center is equal to the sum of moment of inertia of body about the axis passing through the center and product of mass of the body times the square of distance between the two axes.

The perpendicular axis theorem states that the moment of inertia of a planar lamina about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the lamina is equal to the sum of the moments of inertia of the lamina .
