The number of dogs left in total will be 977.

Given,

There are 100 pairs of dogs in a zoo,

2 pairs of babies are born for every dog,

23 of the dogs have not survived.

To find,

The number of dogs left in total.

Solution,

Firstly, here it is given that a total of 100 pairs of dogs are there in the zoo.

It means, the total number of dogs = 200.

Now, 2 pairs of babies are born for each dog.

So, for each dog, number of babies born = 2×2 = 4.

As we've found above,

total dogs = 200

total number of babies born

= 200×4

= 800.

Thus, the total number of dogs now, will now be

= 200 (earlier) + 800 (born babies)

= 1000.

Now, it is given that 23 of the dogs haven't survived. So,

total dogs left

= 1000 - 23

= 977.

Therefore, the number of dogs left in total will be 977.
