There are 100 students in a class IX of a school. Mathematics teacher asks all the students to prepare a

cylindrical container with base at the bottom but open at the

top, using cardboard. Each student has to make one container of

diameter 8.4 cm and height 11.2 cm.The cost of the cardboard is

Rs 10 per 100cm². Find the amount spent by the teacher for the

purpose of the cardboard

Answer:

diameter = 8.4 cm

radius = 8.4/2 =4.2 cm

height = 11.2 cm

number of students =100

C.S.A =cardboard required= 2\pirh

         = 2 x 22/7 x 4.2 x 11.2

         = 295.68 cm2

cardboard required for 100 students =295.68 x100 =29568 cm2

cost for 100cm2 =10 rs

cost for 29568 m2 = 29568/100 x10 = Rs.2956.8

teacher had paid Rs.2956.8 for cardboard
