12/100x X = 36 (using percentage method)
12x= 3600 (transposing upon hundred)
x=3600/12 = 300 (total students)
300-36= 264 (girls)

2) let the total no. of students be x.
=12% of total students =36
=12/100 × x =36
= 3/25 × x = 36
=3x = 36 ×25
= x = 36 × 25/3
= x =12 ×25
=x = 300
hence , no. of total students are 300
then
1) No. of girls = total students - No. of boys
= No. of girls = 300 - 36
= No. of girls = 264
