There is a problem with your question. As you have already given the length as 9 feet, why do you ask for the length?

If you want to calculate the area in Square feet, you have to multiply the corresponding sides of length & width. As it is a beam, there will be 6 areas to be calculated(as the beam is like a cuboid).

If you actually wanted to measure the volume, it will be Length x width x thickness.

Width 10 inchhes = 10/12 foot =0.83 ft. & Thickness 8 inches = 8/12 foot =0.67 ft.

Volume = l x w x t = 9 x 0.83 x 0.67 =5.02 cubic feet
