Given:

There is 125 grade 8 learners and they jog and cycle in the ratio of 3:2.

To find:

How many learners participate in each sport?

Solution:

In grade 8, no. of learners who jog and cycle = 125

The ratio of learners who jog and cycle = 3:2

Let,

"3x" → no. of learners who participate in jogging

"2x" → no. of learners who participate in cycling

Therefore, we can form the equation as:

3x + 2x = 125

\implies 5x = 125

\implies x = \frac{125}{5}

\implies \bold{x = 25}

∴ 3x = 3 × 25 = 75

∴ 2x = 2 × 25 = 50

Thus, the learners participating in each sport:

\boxed{\bold{Participate\:in \:jogging \rightarrow \underline{75} }}\\\\\boxed{\bold{Participate\:in \:cycling \rightarrow \underline{50} }}
