There are 14 boys and 26 girls in a class. What is the ratio of the girls to the total number of students in the class?

total students =14+26=40

girls:total students

14:40

7:20

No.of girls in the class = 26

No.of boys in the class = 14

No.of students in the class = 26 + 14 = 40

So, the ratio of girls to that of the total students in the class = no.of girls is to total no.of students.

⇒ 26 : 40 = 13 : 20

∴ Hence, the ratio of the girls to the total no.of students in the class = 26 : 40 or 13 : 20
