there are 18 students including boys and girls . if each boys plant 4 trees and each girl plant 5 trees. the total no. they plant the trees is 78. then find the no. of boys and girls

Let the number of boys be x

Number of girls = y

x + y = 18

=> x = 18 - y

Each boy planted = 4 plants

=> x ( 4 )

Putting the value of x as ( 18 - y )

=> ( 18 - y )( 4 )

Each girl planted = 5 plants

=> y ( 5 )

A.T.Q.

=> ( 18 - y ) ( 4 ) + ( y ) ( 5 ) = 78

=> 72 - 4y + 5y = 78

=> y = 78 - 72 = 6
