There are 2 identical boxes containing respectively
4 white balls and 3 red balls, and 2nd box 3white balls,
7 red balls. A box is chosen at random and a ball is
drawn from it. If the ball is white what is the
probability that it is from the 1st box.​

2nd box contains 3 white balls and 7 red balls.

TO find:

The probability of white ball from the first box.

Solution:

1) Probability of the event is defined as the number of the favorable outcome /total number of the outcome.

2) Total balls are 17

white balls in first bag are 4

P(white ball from the first box) = 4/17.

The probability of white ball from the first box is 4/17.
