STEP 1: Find number of intervals between 1st and 12th pole:

From 1st pole to 12th poles,

⇒ 12 - 1 = 11 intervals

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEP 2: Find time needed to travel one interval:

11 Intervals = 24 seconds

1 intervals = 24 ÷ 11 = 2.18 seconds

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEP 3: Find number of intervals between 1st and 20th pole:

From 1st pole to 20th poles,

⇒ 20 - 1 = 19 intervals

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEP 4: Find time needed to travel to the 20th pole:

1 interval = 2.18 seconds

19 intervals = 2.18 x 19 = 41.45 seconds

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Answer: It takes (1) 41.45 seconds to reach the last pole.

Hey there!

There are 20 poles in total

To reach 12th pole, we will need to cross 11 intervals

The time taken to cross these 11 intervals is 24 seconds

Then, the time taken to complete one interval would be

24 ÷ 11 seconds

Which is around

2.18 seconds

Now, our destination is the 20th pole, which means we will have to cross 9 intervals \

One interval takes = 2.18 seconds

Then, 19 intervals would take

41.42 seconds, which on average is 41.45 seconds

Answer is ( a )

Hope my answer helps!
