Answer :

Total number of students who failed in the examination = 8

Given :

• There are 24 students in a class.

• 2 out of every 3 students passed the exam.

To Find :

• The number of students who didn't pαss the exam.

Solution :

It is given that 2 out of every 3 students passed the exam.

Dividing the total no. of students into groups of 3 :-

\implies\sf \dfrac{24}{3}

\implies\sf \dfrac{\!\!\!\not 24}{\!\!\!\not 3}

\implies \sf 8

This means that 2 out of 3 students in each of the 8 groups passed the exam.

→ Total no. of students passed = 2 x 8 = 16

Now, to find the no. of students who failed :-

→ No. of students failed = Total no. of students – No. of students passed

→ No. of students failed = 24 - 16

→ No. of students failed = 8

→ Therefore 8 students failed in the exam.
