The ratio of the no. of girls to boys= 1:2

Let the no. of girls be x.

Then, the no. of boys in the class= 2x

Total no. of students in Juan's class =24

i.e.

No. of boys+ No. of girls =24

2x+x=24

3x=24.

x=24/3=8.

Thus,

the no. of girls= x=8

and

the no. of boys=2x=2×8=16
