i)an odd number = 13/25 (ii) divisible by 2 and 3 both = 4/25 (iii) a number less than 16​ 3/5

  • the probability that the number on the dicr
  • i)an odd number
  • = { 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 }
  • There are a total of 13 odd numbers between 1 to 25.
  • Therefore the probability that the number on disc is an odd number is 13/25
  • (ii) divisible by 2 and 3 both
  • = { 6, 12, 18, 24 }
  • There are a total of 4 numbers divisible by 2 and 3 both  between 1 to 25.
  • Therefore the probability that the number on disc divisible by 2 and 3 both is 4/25
  • (iii) a number less than 16​
  • = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15}
  • There are a total of 15 numbers less than 16.
  • Therefore the probability that the number on disc is less than 16 is 15/25 = 3/5

Probability of total discs = 25

Probability ( Total discs = 25 )

= {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25}.

( i ) An odd number :

Probability of an odd number = { 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19,21,23,25 }

P ( Odd number ) = $\frac{Total \ number \ of  \ odd \ number}{Total \ number \ of \ discs}

Total number of odd number = 13.

Total number of discs = 25.

P ( Odd number ) = \frac{13}{25}

( ii ) Divisible by 2 and 3 both :

Probability of divisible by  both 2 and 3 = { 6,12,18,24 }

P ( Divisible by both 2 and 3 )

                                  = $\frac{Total \ number \ of  \ divisible \ by \ both \ 2 \ and \ 3}{Total \ number \ of \ discs}            

Total number of odd number = 4.

Total number of discs = 25.

P ( Divisible by 2 and 3 ) = \frac{4}{25}

( iii ) A number less than 16 :

Probability of a number less than 16

                       = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15 }

P ( A number less than 16 )

                       = $\frac{Total \ number \ of  \ number \ less \ than \ 16}{Total \ number \ of \ discs}

Total number less than 16 = 15.

Total number of discs = 25.

P ( A number less than 16 ) = \frac{15}{25}

P ( A number less than 16 ) = \frac{3}{5}
