There are 25 trees at equal distance of 5 m in a line with a wall, the distance of the wall from the nearest tree being 10 m. A
gardener waters all the trees separately starting from the wall and ho returns to the wall after watering each treo to got water
for the next
On the basis of the above information, answer the following question
(i) How much distance the farmer needs to travel for watering 15th tree?
(a) 160 m
(b) 170 m
(c) 180 m
(d) 190 m
(iii) Total distance needs to travel for watering the 6th tree?
(a) 160 m
(6) 270 m
(c) 420 m
(d) 540 m
.How many trees will get water, if the farmer has travelled a distance of 1040 m?
(a) 10 trees
(b) 11 trees
(c) 12 trees
(d) 13 trees

Answer:

hey mate!

Step-by-step explanation:

The distance of nearest tree is 10m

so that distance travelled to water nearest tree

=20m =  (10×2=20m)

The distance of next nearest tree is 10+5=15m

so total distance travelled =15×2=30m

following form an A.P of terms : -

(20,30,40,50.)

∴ We have to find total distance travelled,

∴ we have to find S 25

n=25, a=20  d=10

∴sn = n/2 ( 2a + ( n-1) d) ⇒ formula

∴ s25= 25/ 2  (2×20+(25−1)10)

∴S 25 = 25/2( 40 + 24 X 10 )

∴S 25 = 25( 20 + 120)

∴S 25  =25×140

∴ s25 = 3500m

Total distance traveled is 3500m

or

= Let sn  be the total distance travelled by the

gardener.

= let d be the common difference ( distance)

between two trees .let a be the distance of the well from the first tree.

= here ,n = 25, d = 10 ,a = 20

= Distance travelled by a gardener from the

well to the last tree = s 25

= s 25 = 25/2 { 2 X 20 + ( 25 - 1) 10 }

= 25/2 ( 40 + 240)

= 3500m

therefore, the total distance the gardener has to travel is 3500 m.

hope it was helpful ,both the solutions are correct!

thank you
