There are 3 different colours of marbles in a bag, red,blue and black. Two fifths of the total marbles are red. There are 18 red marbles, 17 blue marbles and the remainder black. How many black marbles are there in the bag?

Answer:

2/5 marbles are red

total red marbles=18

(2/5)multiplied by x is 18      (where x is total no. of marbles)

2x= 90

x=90/2

x=45

total blue marbles=17

total black marbles=45-(18+17)

=45-35

=10 black marbles are there in the bag.
