Given:

The number of green bulbs=3

The number of orange bulbs=4

The number of white bulbs=4

To find:

The probability of picking either a green or a white bulb

Solution:

We can find the solution by following the steps given below:

We know that the probability of an event= Favourable outcomes/ Total number of outcomes

The total number of bulbs= green bulbs+ orange bulbs+ white bulbs

=3+4+5

=12 bulbs

The total of green and white bulbs=3+5

=8 bulbs

The probability of picking either a green or a white bulb= Total of green and white bulbs/ Total bulbs

=8/12

=2/3

Therefore, the probability of having either a green or a white bulb is 2/3.
