Your child can be the next tech innovator. Start early.

The policemen knew that it wasn’t a good idea to be keeping evidence and the valuables they were stealing from various busts and crime scenes, and that it was an even worse idea to be stashing all of their loot at the safe house that they all lived at. Problem was, they all had developed an insatiable appetite for the thrill of their own crimes, and the prospect of a nearly endless flow of ill-gotten riches.

The fire started when one of the crooked cops fell asleep on top of a pile of unmarked bills they had recently “confiscated” from a local crime syndicate. The ash from his celebratory cigar ignited the bills and spread quickly, and thick smoke began to fill the house. The cop-turned-culprit and his brandy-soaked uniform were almost immediately set ablaze, and he ran through the safehouse, alerting the other policemen present to the fact that their evidence was soon to be destroyed.

A dozen frantic voices began overlapping, crying for water, or an extinguisher- anything that could contain the flames that would soon be devouring their fortune. Their training hadn’t prepared them for this, and even if it had, most had long since abandoned any notion of adhering to proper procedures…

When firemen had finally arrived on the scene, there was only smoldering remains of the safehouse, a few fake gems that were practically worthless, and charred bodies of the crooked cops scattered throughout the ruins. The various locations and positions of the bodies suggested that no significant effort was made to put out the fire, that all inside had panicked and succumbed to inhalation and become trapped inside.

“If only they had known which room to deal with first, maybe they would’ve been alright,” a disbelieving firefighter commented.

“Yeah, or maybe cops shouldn’t try to put out fires,” another one said.
