Given : 30 employees in a particular division of a company.

Their salaries have a mean of $70,000,

The largest number on the list is $100,000.

By accident, this number is changed to $1,000,000.

To Find : value of the mean after the change

Solution:

salaries have a mean of $70,000,

number of employees = 30

Total Salaries = 70,000 * 30

= 2,100000

$100,000.  is  changed to $1,000,000.

New salary = 2,100,000 - 100,000 + 1,000,000.

=  3,000,000.

New mean = 3,000,000.  /30

= 100,000 $

= 100 thousand  $

answer in units of $1000 is 100
