Answer:

Step-by-step explanation

Given :   312, 260 and 156 students in class X, XI and XII respectively. Buses are to be hired to take these students to a picnic.

To Find : the maximum number of students who can sit in a bus if each bus takes equal number of students

Solution:

Assuming in any bus only on class students sit

We need to find HCF of students of class X, XI and XII

312 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 13

260 = 2 * 2 * 5 * 13

156 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 13

HCF = 2 * 2  * 13 = 52

52 Students can sit in a bus

Number of buses required   = 312/52   + 260/52 + 156/52

= 6  + 5  + 3

= 14

Maximum 52 Students can sit in a bus

14 number of buses required
