There are 35 students in 9-A,34 in 9-B and 33 in 9-C .If even roll numbers are alloted for project on chapter 2 polynomials and odd numbers are alloted for project on chapter 1 number system , what is the probability that the student choosen (1)prepares project on chapter 1? (2) prepars project on chapter 2?

total number of students in Std. 9= 34 + 35 + 3 3 = 102.

no. of students in std. 9A whose roll no. is even= 35/2= 17.5= 17 ( as every 2nd student's roll no. will be even)


no. of students in std. 9b whose roll no. is even= 34/2= 17


no. of students in std. 9c whose roll no. is even= 3 3/2= 1 6.5= 1 6.


total students in std. 9 whose roll no. is even= 17 + 17 + 1 6 =50.


no. of students in std. 9 whose roll no. is odd= 102-50 =52.


probability ( prepares project on chapter 1)=total no. of students whose roll no. is odd/total no. of students

=52/ 102

=2 6/5 1.




probability ( prepares project on chapter 2)= total students whose roll no. is even/total no. of students

=50/ 102.

=25/5 1.

total odd roll no.s in classA=1,3,5....35=18
total odd roll no.s in classB=1,3,5....33=17
total odd roll no.s in classC=1,3,5...33=17
therefore
P(prepares project of chapter 1)=52/102=26/51
and
P(prepares pro. on chapter 2)=56/102=28/51
