Given :  There are 35 workers in a company.

Each of 17 workers earns Rs. 3,000 per year;

each of 11 workers earns Rs. 4,000 yearly;

each of 4 workers earns Rs. 6,000 yearly;

each of 2 workers earns Rs. 7,000 yearly and

the remaining workers earn Rs. 10,000 yearly.

To Find :  the A.M and the Median of the earned income.

Solution:

Earning x     f          cf              fx

3000          17         17              51000

4000          11          28             44000

6000          4           32              24000

7000           2          34              14000

10000          1          35               10000

                  35                              143000

Median = (35 + 1)/2  = 18th

18 lies in 4000

Hence Median = 4000

AM  = 143000/35  = 4,085.71

Median = 4000 Rs

AM = 4,085.71 Rs
