Given:

There are 39 students in Ms. Salazar's chemistry class. Ms. Salazar divides the class into 99 lab groups of 4 or 5 students each.

To find:

What would be the number of lab groups with 5 students?

Solution:

From given, we have,

There are 39 students.

Salazar divides the class into 9 lab groups of 4 or 5 students each.

The number of lab groups with 5 students is,

5 × 7 = 35

5 × 8 = 40

But, the number of students is 39.

Therefore, 7 lab groups with 5 students and 1 lab group with 4 students.  (7 × 5 + 1 × 4 = 35 + 4 = 39)

So, the number of lab group with 5 students is 7.

Given :  39 Students   in Ms. Salazar's chemistry class . Ms. Salazar divides the class into 9 lab groups of 4 or 5 students each

To find : number of lab groups with 5 students

Solution :

Let Say number of group with 5 Students =  G

then number of Group  with 4 Students = 9 - G   ( as total 9 Lab Group )

Students in  G groups of 5 Students = 5G

Students in (9 - G) groups of 4 Students = 4(9 - G) = 36 - 4G

Total Students =  5G + 36 - 4G

= 36 + G

Total Students =  39

=> 36 + G  = 39

=> G = 3

number of lab groups with 5 students   = 3
