Answer:

let the number of apples =x

then number of oranges = 10 + x

therefore, x + ( 10 + x )= 40

2x + 10 = 40

2x = 40-10

x = 30/2

x= 15

no of apples= 15

no of oranges= 25

Number of fruits in a basket is 40.

The no. of oranges is 10 more than that of the apples.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We have to find, number of oranges and apples in the basket.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

☯ Let the number of apples be x.

☯ Therefore, Number of oranges will be x + 10.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\underline{\bigstar\:\boldsymbol{According\:to\: Question\::}}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

☯ Total no. of fruits in basket is 40.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

:\implies\sf Total\;fruits = no.\;of\;apple + no.\;of\;orange

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

:\implies\sf 40 = x + (x + 10)

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

:\implies\sf 40 = 2x + 10

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

:\implies\sf 40 - 10 = 2x

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

:\implies\sf 30 = 2x

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

:\implies\sf x = \cancel{ \dfrac{30}{2}}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

:\implies{\underline{\boxed{\sf{\purple{ x = 15}}}}}\;\bigstar

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Therefore,

  • No. of apples, x = 15

  • No. of orange, (x + 10) = 15 + 10 = 25
