There are 40 passengers in a bus, some with Rs. 3 tickets and remaining with Rs.10 tickets. The total collection from these passengers is Rs.295. Find how many passengers have tickets worth Rs.3 ?

Solving this you get x=15

Let the number of passengers with Rs 3 tickets be x.
So, no. Of passengers with Rs 10 tickets = (40 - x)
So,
3x + 10(40 - x) = 295
3x + 400 - 10x = 295
400 - 7x = 295
- 7x = 295 - 400
- 7x = - 105
X = - 105/ - 7x
X = 15

So, no of passengers with Rs 3 tickets = 15
