Answer:

Let the number of passengers bought Rs. 3 tickets = x

Let the number of passengers bought Rs. 10 tickets = y

Given, there are 40 passengers in a bus

x + y = 40⋯(i)

Again, total collection from the passengers is Rs. 295

3x + 10y = 295⋯(ii)

substract (i) from (ii)

Multiply by 10 in (i)

10x + 10y = 400⋯(iii)

substract (iii) and (ii)

10x-3x + 10y-10y = 400-295

7x = 105

So, the number of passengers bought Rs.3 tickets is 15

let the number of people with 3rs ticket - x

people with 10rs ticket-y

x+y=40 (given)

3x+10y= 267

using elim method

3x+3y=120

3x+10y=267

subracting them

7y= 267 -120

7y=147

y=21

x+y=40 (from above)

x+21=40

x=40-21

x=19

number of people with 3rs ticket = 19

thank you
