total no of passengers is 40
let the no of passenger who have ₹3 ticket be x
remaining passenger =40-x
according to question
3x+10(40-x)=295
3x+400-10x=295
400-295=10x-3x
105=7x
15=x
ans=15 people

Answer:

15 passengers have tickets worth rs.3

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the no. of 3 rupees tickets .

Value of x tickets of rs.3 = 3x

Let y be the no. of 10 rupees tickets.

Value of y tickets of rs.10 = 10y

There are 40 passengers in bus .

x+y=40 --- 1

The total collection of these passengers is rupees 295.

3x+10y=295 --- 2

Substitute the value of x from 1 in 2

3(40-y)+10y=295

120y-3y+10y=295

120y+7y=295

7y=295-120

y=\frac{295-120}{7}

y=25

Substitute the value of y in 1 to get value of x

So, 25+x=40

x = 40-25

x = 15

Hence 15 passengers have tickets worth rs.3
