it is the one/ fourth percent of X so 40×4 =160. 160 are total students then 40 are girals so 160-40=boys=120

Question:

There are 40 students in a class. If 1/4 of them are girls, how many boys are there in class.

Answer:

Fraction of girls in class = \frac{1}{4}

Fraction of boys in class = \frac{4}{4} -\frac{1}{4}

= \frac{3}{4}

Total number of students in class = 40

Total number of boys = \frac{3}{4} × 40

= 3 × 10

= 30

Hence,

There are 30 boys in class.

Hope it helps
