Answer: 42.22

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of girls in the class,

⇒ The number of boys = x + 5,

Since, total students =  45, ⇒ x + x + 5 = 45 ⇒ 2x + 5 = 45 ⇒ 2x = 40 ⇒x = 20,

Hence, the numbers of girls = x = 20,

And, the number of boys = x + 5 = 20 + 5 = 25,

Now, Let B is the sum of the weight of boys and G be the sum weight of girls,

Then According to the question,

B - G = 100 -----(1),

And, the average weight of boys is 5 more than average weight of girls,

\frac{A}{25}+5=\frac{B}{20}

⇒ - 4 B + 5 G= - 500 -----(2),

Equation (2) + 4 × Equation (1),

⇒ G = 900, ⇒ B = 100 + 900 = 1000

Hence, the total sum = 1000 + 900 = 1900,

Number of students = 45,

Thus, the average weight of the class = 1900/45 = 42.22 ( approx)
