Step-by-step explanation:

If 50 people have 40 days worth food = 2000 days of food total

Add 30 more people to the original 50 = 80 people now

2000 days of food / 80 people = 25 days

Given: There are 50 students in a hostel. The food provision for them is for 15 days.

To find: We have to find the number of days the provision last if 5 students leave the group.

Solution:

To determine the number of days the provision last we have to follow the below steps as follows-

The initial number of students in the hostel is 50.

If 5 students left the group then the total of students is 50-5=45.

As the number of students decreases the number of days increases. So, it follows an inverse relationship.

Now we can write-

For 50 students the food provision is for 15 days.

So, for 45 students the food provision will be 50×15/45=16.66 days.

The provision will last for 16.66 days.
