there are 500 childern in a school. for a P.T. drill they have to stand in such a manner that the no. if rows and columns are equal how much childern will be left out of these arangement

Let the numbers of rows and columns be x.

By prime factorisation,
500 = 2*2*5*5*5

After pairing the numbers,
5 will be left as unpaired.

Therefore, 5 children will be left out of these arrangement.

Hence, x*x = 2*2*5*5
=> x^2 = 100
=> x = √100
=> x = 10
