There are 500 children in a school. For a P.T. drill they have to stand in such a manner that the number of rows is equal to number of columns. How many children would be left out in this arrangement

if number of rows=no of students in a row=x

then x= a number whose square is less than 500 and nearest to it because 500 is not a perfect square itself

the nearest square to 500 is 22^2 that is 484.

16 students are left out.
