Answer:

The relationship between the profit and unoccupied apartment is

P = 270000 + 3900x -150x²

Step-by-step explanation:

Let 'x' be the number of unoccupied apartments. and let 'P' be the total Profit

Since total number of apartments is 60, no of occupied apartments = 60-x

Rent collected = (60-x)4500 = 270000 - 4500x

The extra amount collected from one apartment if one flat is vacant = Rs. 150

The extra amount collected from all the occupied apartments if one flat is vacant  = 150(60 -x)150

The extra amount collected from all occupied apartments if 'x' flats are vacant = 150x(60 -x) = 9000x - 150x²

Total amount collected from occupied flats

=  270000 - 4500x + 9000x - 150x²

= 270000 + 4500x -150x²

Amount spent for the maintenance of the unoccupied flats = 600x

Hence Profit = 270000 + 4500x -150x² - 600x

P = 270000 + 4500x -150x² - 600x

P = 270000 + 3900x -150x²

∴The relationship between the profit and unoccupied apartment is

P = 270000 + 3900x -150x²
