There are 72 apples on my tree at home; 38 are red, and the rest are green. I know 46 of the apples
have worms in them, so I can’t use them for cooking.

Answer:

72-46=36

72-38=34

Is it so use for cooking? If so, you have 2 red apples inside the pile of 36.

Answer:

There are 34 Green apples and 38 Red.

Assuming that every red apple has a worm there will be 8 green apples with a worm

So maximum number of worm free green apples is 34-8 = 26
