Let x metres be the distance between any two posts placed one after another

No. of lamp posts = 8

distance between the first post and last post = 73m 50 cm = 73m + 0.5 m = 73.5 m

Since the lamp posts are placed with equal distance (x metres) one after another,

total distance covered by eight lamp posts = distance between first and last post

=> 7x = 73.5m

=> x = 73.5/7 m

=> x = 10.5 m

Hence the distance between any two lamp posts placed one after another is 10.5 metres
