Ok, the probability that the first selection is a girl is 6/8. The probability that the second is a girl is then 5/7. For the third, 4/6, for the fourth 3/5, and for the fifth 2/4. The probability of all those things occurring is the product:
P = (6/8)*(5/7)*(4/6)*(3/5)*(2/4) = 720/6720 = 10.71%
So, fairly unlikely, but by no means impossible. You wouldn’t want to go accusing the teacher of discrimination on that data alone.
