SOLUTION

GIVEN

There are a total of 350 products of the following types, Product A is Rs. 10 and Product B is Rs. 8. If all but 1 product of type A didn't sell at the end of the day, and the total sales is 3000

TO DETERMINE

The number of units of A was sold

EVALUATION

Let x units of product A and y units of product B was sold

Now it is given that there are a total of 350 products

 \sf{x + y = 350 \:  \:  \:  -  -  -  -  - (1)}

Again it is also stated that Product A is Rs. 10 and Product B is Rs. 8. If all but 1 product of type A didn't sell at the end of the day

So by the given condition

 \sf{10(x - 1) + 8y = 3000}

 \sf{ \implies \: 10x - 10 + 8y = 3000}

 \sf{ \implies \: 10x + 8y = 3010 \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  -  -  - (2)}

Now Equation 2 - 8 × Equation 1 gives

 \sf{2x = 210}

 \sf{ \implies \: x =105}

Hence there was 105 units of product A and 104 units of product A was sold
