There are apples in two baskets. If we took 5/6 of the apples from the first basket and 3/4 of the apples from the second basket, there would be 20 apples left in each basket. Find the total number of apples and the number of apples left in both baskets if we took 2/3 of the apples from the first basket and leave 3/5 of the apples in the second basket.

Answer:

Let number of apples in 1st & 2nd baskets be 'x' and 'y'.

y - 3y/4 = 20

y/4 = 20

y= 80

x - 5x/6 = 20

x/6 = 20

x = 120

Total apples in 1st basket = 120

Total apples in 2nd basket = 80

If we took 2/3 of apples from basket

Remaining apple in 1st basket = 120 - 120×2/3 = 40

No.of apples left in 2nd basket = 80 × 3/5 = 48
