There are certain number of flowers and certain number of bees in a garden. If one bee is hovering over each flower, eight bees are left over. If two bees are hovering over each flower, eight flowers are left over. Find the number of flowers and bees in the garden?

Answer:

let no. of bees be x and no of flowers be y

from the given conditions ,

x−y=1 and y−

2

x

=1

solving both the equations ,we will get x=4,y=3

No. of bees =4

No. of flowers =3
