Question

There are chairs in a room. if 2 guests share a chair , 1 chair remains vacant and if each guest sits one chair remains standing .What is the number of Guests ?
And I know the answer there are 4 guests and 3 chairs. Please solve it . The one who will answer correctly I will follow him or her ​

Let the no of chairs = x

Let the no of guests = y

A T Q

y/2 + 1 =x & y = x +1 or x + 2 =2y or x = y -1

Form ii substituting the value of x

y+2=2(y-1)

y+2 = 2y-2

y-2y = -2-2

-y= -4

y=4

&

x = y - 1

x =4-1

=3

Therefore no of guests is 3

And no of chairs is 4
