There are five rooms in a house. Each room has a 100W bulb and a 40W tube light. If every day the bulb is used for 1 hour and tube light is used for 5 hours in each room , then what will be the cost of total electrical energy consumed in 30 days? 1 unit of electrical energy costs Rs 8.

Energy consumed = Power x Time
= 100 x 1= 100 W
for tube light= 40 x 5 = 200 W
now, for 30 days, the appliances have been used for one hour and five hours respectively which means
Energy consumed in 30 days by bulb =
100 x 30 = 3000 W
by tube light= 200 x (30x5)
= 200 x 150 = 30000 W
therefore total energy consumed will be 30000+300 = 30300 W = 30.3 kWh = 30.3 units
total cost = 8 x 30.3= 242.4 rupees
= 100 x 1= 100 W
for tube light= 40 x 5 = 200 W
now, for 30 days, the appliances have been used for one hour and five hours respectively which means
Energy consumed in 30 days by bulb =
100 x 30 = 3000 W
by tube light= 200 x (30x5)
= 200 x 150 = 30000 W
therefore total energy consumed will be 30000+300 = 30300 W = 30.3 kWh = 30.3 units
total cost = 8 x 30.3= 242.4 rupees
