Answer:

When kitchen light is on, only study room light has to be off. But other lights can be on simultaneously. Whenever study room light is on, the hall light has to be on as well but hall light can be on even if study light is off. Therefore, when study room light is off and kitchen light is on, the lights of hall, dining room and bedroom can be on too. Therefore, the max lights on simultaneously are 4.

Answer is (b) 4
