. There are some boys and girls in a room. The square of the number of girls is less than
the square of the number of boys by 28. If there were two more girls, the number of
boys would have been the same as that of the girls. The total number of boys and girls in
the room is? ​

no. of boys be y

y² = x²+28

y²- x² = 28...............1

y = x+2................2

put value of y in eqn 1

(x+2)²- x² = 28

x²+4x+4-x² = 28

4x+4 = 28

4x = 28-4

4x = 24

x = 24/4

x = 6

from eqn 2

y = 6+2

y = 8

total boys and girls be 6+8 = 14
