Hi ,

Let the total children = x -------( 1 )

Number of children playing games

= fourth part of the total children

= x / 4 -----( 2 )

Remaining children = x - x /4 = 3x / 4

Number of children taking breakfast

= 6 more than 3rd part of remaining

children

= (3x/4) ×1 /3 + 6

= x /4 + 6 ------ ( 3 )

Number children reading books = 12---- ( 4 )

Therefore,

( 1 ) = ( 2 ) + ( 3 ) + ( 4 )

x = ( x / 4 ) + ( x / 4 ) + 6 + 12

x = x / 2 + 18

x - x / 2 = 18

x /2 = 18

x = 2 × 18

x = 36

Therefore,

Total number of children = x = 36

I hope this helps you.
