Answers
Given : In a town of 10000 families, it was found that
40% families buy brand A, 20% buy brand B and 10% buy brand C
5% families buy brands A and B, 3% buy B and C and 4% buy A and C.
2% families buy all the three brands.
To Find :
Solution:
milk of brand A only = brand A - brands A and B, - brand A and C + all 3 brand
= 40 % - 5 % - 4 % + 2 %
= 33 %
33 % of 10000 = 3300
Number of families which buy the milk of brand A only, = 3300
milk of exactly two brands
= (brands A and B - all 3 brands) + (brands A and C - all 3 brands) + (brands C and B - all 3 brands)
= ( 5 - 2) + (4 - 2) + (3 - 2) %
= 6 %
6 % of 10000 = 600
number of families which buy the milk of exactly one brand = 5200
Number of families which buy the milk of brands A and C but not B = 200
at least one of A, B, C = 6000
