$120=2\times 2\times 3\times 2\times5$

$144=2\times 2\times 3\times 2\times 2\times3$

$204=2\times 2\times 3\times17$

$\bold{The \: HCF \: is \: 2\times 2\times 3=12}$

Hence, 12 kg is the required mass that is needed so that each rice heap occupies the same number of bags.
