There are three tube lights, a TV and two fan's in Rakhi's living room. She finds that each tube light draws 40 W, the TV draws 60 W and each fan draws 80 W. On an average, each tubelight is kept ON for 8 hours, Tv for 6 hours and each fan for 20 hours everyday.
Find the cost of electricity consumed in the month of june, if the rate for electrical energy is Rs. 5.50 per kWh.

Given that, three tube lights, a TV and two fan's are in a living room.

Power consumed by one tube light = 40W

Power consumed by three tube light = 3 × 40W = 120W

Also given in question that, each tubelight is kept on for 8 hours.

So, Energy consumed by tube light = 8 × 120W = 960W ..........(1st equation)

Similarly,

Power consumed by one fan = 80W

Power consumed by two fan = 2 × 80W = 160W

Each fan is kept on for 20 hours. So,

Energy consumed by fan = 20 × 160W = 3200W .............(2nd equation)

Power consumed by T.V. = 60W

And T.V. is kept on for 6 hours.

Energy consumed by T.V. = 6 × 60W = 360W ............(3rd equation)

Consumption of energy in one day = (1st + 2nd + 3rd) equation

= (960 + 3200 + 360)W

= 4520 W

= 4.520 kW

We have to find the cost of electricity consumed in the month of June (30 days) if the rate for electrical energy is Rs. 5.50 per kWh.

= 4.520 × 30 × 5.50

= Rs. 745.8
