We breath in atmospheric airconsisting of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and all the other gasses. Whatever gas is required is exchanged in the alveoli of the lungs. When you breathe in - or inhale, your lungs expand, air is sucked in through your nose or mouth. The air travels down your windpipe and into your lungs. After passing through your bronchial tubes, the air finally reaches and enters the alveoli. The air weexhale has greater percentage of CO2 n then air we inhale has more oxygen.

Hi
Here is your answer...
Our inspiration takes all gases inside which is present in atmosphere but haemoglobin present in our blood takes only oxygen and makes it as oxyhaemoglobin and helps in respiration.
It can also take Carbon Monoxide which is harmful to us.
Hope it helps U... :)
