Relation Velocity of B relative to A
= Velocity of B - Velocity of A
= 40m/s - 3m/s
=37m/s
The above answer is done by the formula.
Always remember -
If the cars are moving in same direction , then to find their relative speed with be subtracted.
and if the cars are moving in opposite direction , then their velocities will be added to find the relative speed.
For Example -
Suppose we are travelling in a car, then for us the speed of another car moving in the same direction will be observed less. whereas if another car moves in opposite direction then we observe the car to pass faster.
